Carla Heron is a homegrown Gardendale girl. Growing up and graduating from Gardendale High School in 1983, she soon started her working career with the UAB Oncology Department.
A Caring Heart
Love for her patients and providing extended care made the job not just work but a passion. She loved her career. She often found herself in patient care, listening, offering help, and searching for a way to make life easier for those she served. Still searching and looking for ways to reach out, she moved on to dental care.
During this time, she also started a few successful businesses but found there was still something missing in her business life.
Marriage, Family, and Esthetician school
Realizing she still was looking for another way to be a servant of the people, she chose to attend Esthetic School in 2016. She married her husband Jay the same day she graduated from college.
Her life goal was to help people and make a difference in their lives. From this passion came the dream of Skinology. The name came to her on her honeymoon cruise. Starting with her blended family and three children, Michael, Shelby, and Kane, Carla looked forward to fulfilling her goal of providing help for those who had issues after chemo and offering services to women and men who experienced issues with their skin.
Skinolgy originally opened in Gardendale, but in January of 2021, the company relocated to Mount Olive with a recent expansion to 3000 square feet. She employs two other estheticians, Brittney Hunt and Jancie Todd. Together they have over 3 degrees and 50 years of service.
The business is a family enterprise, her son, Michael Vernon, is the company’s hair stylist, and her husband Jay takes care of repairs.
Carla’s passion and love for patient care overflow into every aspect of her business.
